We hope that you are all happy with the the final grade received. If, however, there is a student feeling that the final grade does not correspond to the performance displayed upon the exam, there is obviously the possibility of inspecting the correction process of the exam sheets.
If a student is interested in the Exam Inspection, please register with the Exam Inspection sending an email to Eryk Schiller until Sun, 19-7-20 @ 23:59 (CEST). The inspection will happen on Wed, 22-07-20 between 11:00 and 12:00 (CEST) using Microsoft Teams. Eryk Schiller will be the only person running the inspection. Therefore, for students registered with the inspection, please follow the 2397 - Mobsys Exam Team on Microsoft Teams. Eryk Schiller will be checking whether the student is there on the chat and Eryk Schiller will be calling interested students one by one using a private audio call through Microsoft Teams. If the number of students interested in the Exam Inspection is high, Eryk Schiller will notify all students about the extension of the Exam Inspection time window on Wed, 22-07-20.
The University and we as lecturers will do everything possible to ensure that you can acquire all your planned credits this semester. All examinations (assessments) will take place at the times determined in the VVZ; you will be informed in good time about the type and procedure. So please plan to be available at the appropriate times (online or onsite, depending on the legal situation). If you belong to a specified risk group, then special rules apply and you can contact the Dean's Office in this case.
Since UZH has asked all lectures at this very moment to select the most appropriate and suitable online teaching tool, the first week, may be the second week from March 16, 2020 onward may see starting problems or technical deficits. These happen due to the unexpected and non-tested use of tools for many attendees, which are now run and applied basically for very many classes at the same time. Based on the expertise of the CSG team, we do try to minimize those problems as soon as possible. Please follow your e-mail addresses you did use for registering with this class to receive up-to-date and most recent information, whenever this may become accessible.
This lecture's goals encompass the gaining of knowledge of principles and protocols for wireless and mobile communications. While telecommunications and Internet aspects are of utmost importance, their integration and future needs are discussed. Thus, respective protocol details and technology aspects for mobile and wireless communications will be covered.
Based on the basic knowledge on communication systems as well as distributed systems the specifics of communications in the wireless and mobile domain are addressed. Those include technical basics, media access schemes, and signals. In a more detailed view mobile and wireless telecommunication systems are discussed, which include GSM, UMTS, satellites, and radio. The Local Area Network is addressed in terms of WLAN technology, bluetooth, and some further examples. The development of these systems into an Internet usage is shown by discussing Mobile IP as well as mobile transport protocols. Finally, mobility support for wireless transactions and file systems as well as deployed technology scenarios are discussed.
The lecture on "Communication Systems/Kommunikationssysteme" is required. The knowledge of "Distributed Systems/Verteilte Systeme" is recommended, but not necessary.
