Distributed Voice-over-IP-Management
VA
State: completed by Stefan HuberPublished: 2011-09-13
During this work, the student shall get familiar with concepts in the context of distributed management of VoIP infrastructure, as well as P2P based VoIP. He shall investigate into concepts to:
- render the EMANICS VoIP testbed more flexible for experimentation purposes
- extend its administration capacities
- enable the collection of realistic usage patterns for research purposes
- extend the testbed with a P2P based SIP overlay network
In particular, the following issues shall be adressed:
- The distributed configuration and storage of one or several user accounts, providing the user with a holistic view of the system and allowing for remote ad-hoc configuration of at least relevant parts of the infrastructure, especially ’testing’ and ’experimental’ configuration parts
- Introduction of a sufficiently stable context, editable only from local administrators w.r.t. the participant site, capacities for context switch via defined prefixes and fallback mechanisms in case of configuration conflicts or errors.
- Integration of a P2P SIP in the existing testbed and dialplan configuration in support of it.
- Selected parts of these issues shall be solved and implemented in a prototypical fashion.
