The 18th IFIP/IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium (NOMS 2022) - hosted by Pal Varga's BME team in Budapest, Hungary, April 25-29, 2022 - targeted at the "Network and Service Management in the Era of Cloudification, Softwarization, and Artificial Intelligence" as the main theme and has shown a number of related keynote presentations as well as technical paper, mini-conference, demo, dissertation digest, experience, short paper sessions, and panels.
During NOMS, the CSG was represented by Muriel Franco, Alberto Huertas, Eder Scheid, and Burkhard Stiller on-site and Sina Rafati remotely. The CSG members attended different technical sessions during the five days of the conference, including the joint meeting of the IEEE Communication Society Technical Committee on Network Operation and Management (CNOM) and IFIP's Working Group WG6.6 on "Management of Networks and Distributed Systems". Furthermore, Burkhard Stiller was one of the two PhD Dissertation Digest Co-chairs (besides Alberto Schaeffer Filho, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul UFRGS) and he did chair one of the mini-conference sessions and the first PhD Dissertation Digest session.
The CSG was proud to contribute also to NOMS 2022 with one tutorial, one paper in the mini-conference session, and one dissertation digest paper The mini-conference Paper on "Policy-based and Behavioral Framework to Detect Ransomware Affecting Resource-constrained Sensors" was presented Monday on-site by Alberto Huertas, and co-authored by Pedro Miguel Sánchez, Eder Scheid, Timucin Besken, Gérôme Bovet, Gregorio Martinez Peres, and Burkhard Stiller The tutorial on "Theoretical and Practical Intelligence Behavioral Fingerprinting" was presented Monday, too, on-site by Alberto Huertas, Pedro Miguel Sánchez (University of Murica, Spain), and Muriel Franco, co-authored by Gregorio Martínez Pérez, Gérôme Bovet, and Burkhard Stiller, and did see a high-profile audience.
The PhD Dissertation Digest paper on "Efficient Designs for Practical Blockchain-IoT Integration" was presented remotely by Sina Rafati, a former PhD student of the CSG within the second Dissertation Digest session on Thursday.
During the closing session of NOMS on Thursday, the NOMS 2022 awards had been announced to recognize a set of people involved in NOMS 2022. Amongst others, first, Pedro Miguel Sánchez was awareded one of the IEEE Student Travel Grant (STG) and Burkhard Stiller received the NOMS 2022 Reviewer Recognition Award with nine colleagues (top 3%) out of the full set of about 270 NOMS 2022 reviewers.
