Box2Box, the winner project of this years P2P Lecture and being backed
by SmartenIT as well as FLAMINGO expertise, was successfully
demonstrated at the 13th IEEE P2P Conference in Trento, Italy by the
project team consisting of Sebastian Golaszewski, Christian Lüthold,
Marc Weber, and their supervisors Andri Lareida and Dr. Thomas Bocek.
Box2Box is a fully decentralized file synchronization software, which
resembles the feature set of cloud offerings, such as DropBox or Google
Drive, while maintaining privacy. The respective paper describing
Box2Box in more detail can be found here. Box2Box sparked great
interest and stirred constructive discussions in the P2P community. The
highly motivated team will continue to work on this approach with the
goal of releasing a first full version before the end of 2013.
Update: Box2Box is now called Hive2Hive.
